The history of Tarot
Tarot has a rich historical background, as its origins blossomed across Europe during a very prolific artistic era. The first playing card references to Tarot were illustrated in the 1430s in Northern Italy, with the first official complete Tarot Deck created in 1490, named the Sola-Busca Deck.
This card game wasn’t originally designed as a fortune telling tool, but as a card game called Tarocchi, an associative combination game from Ferrara and Milan in Italy. The earliest evidence of Tarot being used for divination was in 18th century. Tarocchi may no longer exist, but Tarocchini is still popular in Bologna as an associative or sequential combination card game.
A brief on the mechanics of Tarot
Tarot cards are an even more complete tool than you may think. For those who connect with Elemental Magick, the Minor Arcana also references the natural elements of this abundant world. Hence, they can also be interpreted through the elemental signs present in the Minor Arcana, such as water for the suite of Cups, earth for Pentacles, air for Swords and fire for Wands.
Let’s get to understanding what a traditional Tarot deck contains: it has 78 cards, in which 22 are Major Arcana cards, representing the main Archetypes in one's Spiritual Journey. The 56 following cards are part of the Minor Arcana, divided in 4 different suites relating to Emotions, Materials, Actions and Thoughts.
It is such a complete Divination tool as it has cards for any type of reading — past life regression readings, love readings, career readings, personal development readings (my favorite), you name it!
Embarking on your Healing Journey is never easy and sometimes we can get lost in the process. Let the cards and my Intuitive Guidance bring you back on the right track to vulnerability and listening to your own needs.
